EEPIS Online, Wednesday (27/05/09) at 15:00 pm in the Theater room of EEPIS ITS held a guest lecturing for the EEPIS ITS students about "Tips and Tricks facing of the Challenges & the Dynamics of World Work", by Agatha Aurelia Sylvia, B.B. This guest lecturing is a form of an appreciation from Telkomsel to EEPIS ITS. Telkomsel as the largest operator in Indonesia have made a specific format service in a form of a price, campus facilities and add services. Add service as a form of Telkomsel Campus Community programs that can be followed free of charge, including a lecture room, extra curricular, seminars, exhibition and others.
Agatha Aurellia Sylva, BB is one of the teachers at the of Informatics Engineering Department from ITS, he graduated from the Business Management in Sydney, Australia "William Blue University". Besides teaching, she also worked in another places, and often to be a speaker at various seminars. Some areas that she usually talk about are, business ethnics, image building, presentation, read your audience, business communication, the power of change, Transformational thinking, etc.
At a guest lecture yesterday, this Surabaya-born woman explained specifically about "Make Your Right Performance". It was explained that the appearance is necessary wherever we are, especially in the world of work. There are 3 things that should be done for someone to make a change, either to change the appearance or behavior for the better. The first is the intention to make changes, both the desire for change, and the third is struggling to maintain the changes that have been achieved.
In his presentation, explained that the performances were divided into 2 aspects, there are the aspects that can be controlled and the one that can not be controlled. Aspects that can be controlled is an issue with someone appearances, either on the clothes worn, the color of clothing, accessories worn, and all that can reflect one s character. While aspects can not be controlled is all that has have been made by God, that is about our physical appearance.
Besides appearance, another thing that should be learned by someone is to change yourself to be the better person is the body language, eye contact & smiles, facial expressions, head nods, gestures, body language, body contact, and verbal communication. Verbal communication consists of 2 things, killer words and magic words. Killer words are words or phrases that deadly negative in communicating sustainability, while magic words are positive sentences that are used to build a warm atmosphere of communication & continuous.
A guest lecturing that lasted mostly for 90 minutes followed the students with enthusiasm; it is proved by the number of participants which exceeds the capacity of the theater, so they must be willing to stand up. And before the show ended, session of questions is opened. One of this "arek suroboyo" answer when she was asked about how manage her time is "Every morning I always drink coffee, and said if I was ready to do my tasks today".
