EEPIS Online, (14/08) Succeeded in bringing Indonesia go international by their robot, EEPIS shows its existence in technology through Muatan Roket II (KORINDO I) 2009 Competition. Although it just started a year ago, Muatan Roket Competition 2009 in university level has attracted many attentions. It’s proven by the number of participants which reached 40 participants from all universities in Indonesia.
The theme of competition this year is “Payload Meteorology†and took place in Pandasimo Beach in Yogyakarta, the place where Indonesian college student’s rocket was launched for the first time by PRMI (Persatuan Roket Mahasiswa Indonesia) community ay 1963. EEPIS doesn’t miss the chance to join this annual competition which was held by Lembaga Penerbangan dan Antariksa Nasional (LAPAN). If there was only one team from EEPIS in last year, now EEPIS sent seven teams to Yogyakarta.
Those teams are Gatotkdjo_Return, Angkasa, meka-meka, IMF 09, Sekchetewu, PEMSky_09, and Srondol One. Department of Mechatronics was more dominating, but the Department of Telecommunications, Electronics, Computer Engineering also participated in the teams. Each team consists of 3 people. Participants are required to prepare the rocket cargo, completed with sensors which consist of pressure sensors, temperature, humidity and acceleration. Meanwhile, the rocket is provided by the organizer.
The rocket flew up to 800 meters in height which next occur the sparasi for at least 25 seconds and the parachute will unfurl and bring the payload falls to the earth.
The teams will follow the selection of functional payload test (the substance which will be carried in the rocket) on August 14. The team which passes in that selection can follow the flying test on August 15 and the presentation from each team will be held on the next day (August 16).
â€EEPIS sent 7 proposals from 7 teams, and Alhamdulillah it’s all accepted,†said Aditya Darmawan as a leader of PENSky_09. From 60 proposals have been sent, there is only 40 teams which pass the proposal selection. According to him, the team has less preparation. The difficulties in arrange the team members’ schedule in working the rocket is the biggest obstacle.
â€We are required to make a rocket with a cargo which the mission is meteo parameters measurement. Measurement data must be sent by the payload to the ground segment intact and continuous. The data will be translated into its units,†he said.
“Actually we have less preparation. If we compare with the other, we are like go to a war with only a stakes,†he said. The whole team forced in work at 2-3 days before the competition to finish their rocket. Thursday night, the whole team went to Yogyakarta and ready for the competition. (su’i)
